Twill letter basket with smoked reed (part 2)

Check out part one to see how this basket started.

Because of the nature of the twill weave, the stakes rest exactly next to each other and therefore it is impossible to lash the rim with any size reed. I used some sturdy thread and a NEEDLE– this part of the process took longer than the rest of the basket combined.

This is the pile of thread I had going. I had to pull it all through between each and every stake– more than 80 times.

    man oh man, that rim looks like it was totally a pain.

    LOVE the finished product, LOVE the contrasting colors…. it turned out BEAUTIFULLY!! =)
